Liminality

Liminality

Shall we choose to limit ourselves
To the old patterns and ways
Or open up ourselves fully
With new wings, light with dreams
Long shrouded by the old and folded
Pressures to be correct and stay safe
Hobbled in our chains of conformity.

Or can we dare to move afresh
Into those unknown pastures
Where we allow the other creatures
Of this earth, their place in freedom
To be their true unfettered selves
Instead of being forever prisoners
In tight pens and holding blocks
Pressed in ever tighter propinquity
As they grow for our consumption
Only liberated on the chopping block.

Shall we instead move into the realms
Of our better selves, free to become
Illimitable but caring, soaring as never before
The loving guardians of the planet
